Equipment

  • 1 saucepan
  • 1 dish
  • 1 large sauté pan
  • 1 small saucepan

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 1 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cilantro chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chives chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 lemon juiced
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2/3 cup clover honey
  • Barbecue Garlic Drizzle
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 large cloves garlic minced
  • Pinch of cayenne
  • 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup honey
  • 7 tablespoons soy sauce

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add tea bags and simmer. Place wings in a dish and add the soy sauce, chives, cilantro, garlic, and lemon juice.
  • Toss well to coat; marinate, refrigerated, for at least 2 hours and up to 24 hours.
  • Remove wings from marinade and pat dry. Season with salt and pepper
  • In a large sauté pan over medium-high heat, melt the butter in the olive oil.
  • When the butter stops foaming, add the honey and chicken wings and fry until browned, about 5 minutes, turning the wings over often to coat them. Continue cooking until sticky and cooked through. Garnish with garlic BBQ sauce drizzle and serve.

Garlic barbecue drizzle:

  • In a small saucepan melt butter over medium heat. Add in garlic and cayenne. Cook, stirring for about 2 minutes or until the garlic is softened. Add in the ketchup, honey and soy sauce. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly. Simmer for another 4-5 minutes.

Notes

The key to achieving perfectly sticky and caramelized wings is to marinate them for at least 2 hours, allowing the marinade to infuse and tenderize the meat. Remember to pat the wings dry before frying to ensure a crispy texture.
